“Arrest Us Again” — Naira Marley to Police on Mohbad’s Case

Naira Marley

Nigerian rapper and Marlian Music boss Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has called on the Lagos State Police Command to reopen the investigation into the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, who died under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023.

In a video broadcast via his YouTube channel on Tuesday, Marley maintained his innocence but urged the police to re-arrest him, his associate Samson Balogun (Samlarry), and everyone previously accused in connection with Mohbad’s death.

“I came back to Nigeria to support the police because I can see fingers pointing our ways,” he said.
“If you ask me, I will tell the police to arrest everybody again. Put an officer we can trust in charge.”

Marley revealed that he spent two months in detention at Panti, and claimed there was a conspiracy to keep him behind bars, citing leaked group chats that allegedly mentioned the officer in charge and even a judge.

He also disclosed that he has reached an agreement with Mohbad’s lawyer to transfer all royalties to whichever member of the late singer’s family is legally appointed to manage his estate.

“We haven’t touched any money from Mohbad’s royalties. It’s there, safe, for whoever the court or family picks,” he added.

Mohbad’s death sparked nationwide protests and calls for justice, with Marley and Samlarry initially detained before being released on bail. Other individuals, including Primeboy and auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe, were also arrested in connection with the case.

The rapper’s renewed call for transparency and accountability has reignited public interest in the case, with many awaiting the police’s next move.
