Youth League: Remo Stars and Ikorodu City Battle for Top Spot

‎The competition between Remo Stars and Ikorodu City at the Ikenne Zone of the 2025 NPFL Youth League is a close contest; however, Coach Ajobolade Olumide emphasizes that his Remo squad is not focused on accumulating points.

‎Following the second round of matches, both Remo Stars and Ikorodu City are level on points, yet the Ikenne team holds a superior goal difference after a decisive 4-1 victory over Shooting Stars in their opening game of Match Day 2. Ikorodu City closely trails them, having secured a 2-0 win against Sunshine Stars.

Bendel Insurance currently occupies the third position with three points, following their 2-1 victory over Kwara United.

‎Olumide conveyed to NPFL Media yesterday that his team is primarily thrilled to be part of the competition and is not fixated on their ranking in the league.

‎”Our primary focus is not on our position in the standings; rather, we aim to compete to the best of our abilities. This competition serves as an additional platform to evaluate our progress, which is the essence of our team,” he stated confidently.

‎Regarding their close competition with Ikorodu City, Olumide asserted that he does not view the Lagos team as a threat but rather embraces the challenge.

‎”We welcome the opportunity to test our setup; since we do not have the chance to face Ikorodu City directly, we are eager to seize this opportunity.”

‎The teams will take a rest day today and will return tomorrow for Match Day 3.
