‘We Don’t Know Any Info About Them’ – Eagles Captain Admits Ahead of CHAN Clash

Home-based Super Eagles captain Nduka Junior has commended the warm welcome his team has received in Zanzibar in anticipation of their international friendly on Monday, labeling it as “amazing” and reiterating the squad’s commitment to preparing for the forthcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

During a media briefing prior to the match, Nduka expressed that the team has been deeply moved by the hospitality shown to them since their arrival.

“It was a very great welcome, an amazing welcome from the people of Zanzibar and I must confess they are very good people,” the captain remarked.

The friendly match against Zanzibar is one of two preparatory games planned as part of Nigeria’s final phase of training for CHAN 2024.

The first match is scheduled for Monday, July 28, followed by the second on Thursday, July 31.

Reflecting on the team’s development, Nduka stated, “Regarding our preparation moving forward, we are still in training as we have a week left before the tournament.

“This game is one of the matches we play to ensure we understand our strengths and weaknesses.”

With limited knowledge about their opponents, Nduka acknowledged the absence of comprehensive scouting on Zanzibar’s national team but stressed the importance of maintaining focus regardless.

“The team we’re going to face tomorrow, which is Zanzibar—no one is discussing them at the moment because we lack information about them, and that’s the situation in camp,” he noted.

Despite the ambiguity, the Home Eagles are approaching the match with seriousness, considering it a vital assessment ahead of their CHAN campaign.
