“MWAN Slams Govt Over Medical Officers’ Allowances Circular, Demands Withdrawal”

The Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria MWAN has expressed deep concern and disappointment over a circular that was reportedly issued by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission last month.

According to a statement signed by MWAN national President, Prof. Rosemary Ogu and Secretary, Dr Vetty Agala, the circular is reviewing allowances for medical and dental officers in the federal civil service.

The body says it fully aligns with the Nigerian Medical Association NMA and supports the rejection of the circular.

MWAN says it considers the circular inadequate, misleading and a breach of the bargaining agreements reached in 2001, 2009, 2014, and 2021 between the NMA and the Federal Government.
