DICON-D7G is targeting 7,000 job opportunities for retired military personnel and civilians as it moves to expand local defence production and reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported military equipment.
The Chief Executive Officer of DICON-D7G, Osman Chennar, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna, saying the initiative would attract investment, promote technology transfer and strengthen Nigeria’s defence industrial capacity.
He said the organisation was seeking partnerships with government institutions, private investors, local manufacturers, research organisations and international technology companies to build domestic capacity to design, manufacture, maintain and eventually export military equipment.
Chennar said DICON-D7G recently participated in an exhibition in Qatar, where it explored partnerships with foreign manufacturers and investors to facilitate technology transfer and boost local production.

He also described the ongoing Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) in Lagos as an important platform for connecting investors, manufacturers and technology developers.
The statement further disclosed that DICON-D7G was pursuing the acquisition of about 40,000 square metres of land in Lagos to establish an international exhibition centre for defence exhibitions, technology showcases, trade fairs and investment forums.
According to Chennar, the proposed centre would also provide Nigerian manufacturers with opportunities to showcase locally developed products while generating revenue to support the organisation’s long-term industrial plans.
On employment, he said the projected 7,000 opportunities would comprise 2,000 positions for retired military personnel and 5,000 for civilians.
Retired personnel are expected to contribute their experience in training, engineering, logistics, administration, and project management, while civilian roles would cover manufacturing, information technology, research, skilled trades, and other support services.
