Galatasaray chief medical officer Yener İnce has provided a fresh update on the fitness of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the club’s Turkish Super Lig clash against Kasımpaşa on Friday.
Osimhen sustained an injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium and has since missed three consecutive matches in all competitions.
The Nigerian was unavailable for fixtures against Kocaelispor, Trabzonspor and Sporting Lisbon as he continued his recovery.
Before suffering the setback, Osimhen had enjoyed a superb start to the campaign, registering six goals and two assists in just four league appearances.
Providing an update on the striker’s condition, İnce revealed that further medical tests would determine whether Osimhen is ready to return to action.
“We will conduct tests on all three players, on Osimhen, on Singo and on Sallai as well. We will make a decision based on the test results,” İnce told Winner Galatasaray.
“But the treatment of all three is going very well. In other words, all three are in a much better condition now compared to one week to 10 days ago.
“Thank goodness, there is nothing going wrong with the treatments,” he added.
Osimhen also missed Nigeria’s recent international fixtures against Madagascar, Guinea-Bissau and Russia due to the injury.
However, the striker has resumed training as part of his rehabilitation programme, boosting hopes that he could return to action soon for both club and country.
Galatasaray will now await the outcome of the medical assessments before making a final decision on Osimhen’s availability for Friday’s encounter against Kasımpaşa.
