Preparations have begun for Nigeria’s Super Falcons ahead of their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying fixture against Comoros, with nine players already reporting to camp.
The early arrivals include Dynamo Brest forward Blessing Nkor and three Edo Queens players — Tumininu Adeshina, Christiana Uzoma and Valentina Uroko.
Farida Abdulwahab, Joy Igbokwe, Fatimoh Solaty, Glory Edet and Sandra John have also checked into the team’s camp.
The players are currently lodged at the AM2PM Hotel in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, where preparations for the crucial second-round qualifying tie will take place.
More members of the squad are expected to arrive on Monday as interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen intensifies preparations for the encounter.
Nigeria will be aiming to secure qualification for the next stage of the women’s football event at the 2028 Olympic Games, with the Super Falcons looking to continue their strong record on the African continent.
The arrival of the first batch of players marks the start of what is expected to be an intensive training programme as the team seeks to build momentum ahead of the clash with Comoros.
Eguavoen and his technical crew will be hoping to have a full complement of players in camp soon to allow adequate preparation time before the important qualifier.
