The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State has conducted a one-day train-the-trainers workshop for Local Government Training Officers ahead of the nationwide preliminary voter register display and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection exercise.
In a statement by the Public Affairs Officer INEC Rivers State, Toru Emmanuel Tamuno, the session, held at the Media Centre of the INEC State Office in Port Harcourt on Saturday October 3, 2026 focused on operational guidelines for the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters (PRV), processing of claims and objections, and the management of PVC collection at the grassroots level.
Facilitators drawn from INEC National Headquarters and the Rivers State Office including Mrs Gloria Njiowhor, Mr Makata Christian Ikechukwu and Mrs Famakinwa Janet Adelodun trained key participants from the 23 Local Government Areas and the state office.
Top management officials from the commission monitored the exercise to ensure compliance with standard operational guidelines. They included the Head of Department, Electoral Operations, Engr Frank Ogbise, and the Head of Department, General Administration and Procurement, Mrs Arit Eshor.
The nationwide display of the Preliminary Register of Voters is scheduled to hold from October 9 to 15, 2026.
It will run concurrently with the first phase of PVC distribution across all registration areas (wards) in the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
INEC Rivers State reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and efficiency in the exercise and urged eligible voters to visit their respective ward centres during the period to verify their details and collect their PVCs.
