Some federal government workers in Rivers State say they have yet to receive any official communication about the three-day nationwide warning strike directed by the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC).
The council ordered the strike in response to worsening economic hardship, rising fuel prices, and the Federal Government’s failure to address demands sent in a letter to President Bola Tinubu.
Despite the directive, normal official activities continued at the Federal Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt on Friday, when LEADERSHIP Weekend visited the facility.

One civil servant, speaking anonymously, said union leaders in the state had not formally notified workers about the strike, noting that staff were only going by rumours.
Meanwhile, at the Rivers State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt, no information could be obtained regarding the strike, as the facility is currently undergoing renovation.
The state government had directed civil servants, particularly those in the junior cadre, to work from home back in February until renovation work is completed, with a targeted completion date of January 2027.
