The Rivers State Ministry of Transport has extended the deadline for commercial vehicle and tricycle operators in the state to paint their vehicles in the approved Rivers State colours.
The ministry said the extension followed appeals and pleas from transport operators across the state.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Transport, Dr (Mrs) Vera Ndidi Sam-Dike, the new deadline for compliance has been fixed for December 31, 2026.
The Ministry directed all owners, operators and drivers of commercial vehicles, including tricycle (keke) operators, to take advantage of the extension and ensure their vehicles are painted in the approved light blue and white colours.

It warned that enforcement would commence in the first week of January 2027.
The ministry also directed commercial vehicle operators who have yet to comply with its enumeration directive to report to the ministry for the enumeration of their vehicles.
According to the statement, the deadline for the enumeration exercise is the second week of October 2026, after which enforcement measures will commence.
The ministry urged all affected transport operators to comply with the directives within the stipulated timelines to avoid enforcement actions.
