President Bola Tinubu has concluded his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Lagos, where he is expected to meet with political leaders and associates as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 and spent a week in London before travelling to Paris, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Tinubu arrived in Lagos on Tuesday evening after travelling from Paris, France, where he spent the final part of his trip. His aircraft landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 6:22 pm.
Speaking with journalists after his arrival, the President dismissed concerns about his health.
“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong. Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain: I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go,” Tinubu said.
The Presidency said Tinubu chose to return to Lagos first to honour the memory of the late Chief MKO Abiola, who won the June 12, 1993 presidential election and played a significant role in Nigeria’s struggle for democracy.
As part of activities marking Nigeria’s Independence Day on October 1, Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a film celebrating Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
According to the Presidency, the President will also use his time in Lagos to hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 elections.

“While in Lagos, President Tinubu will also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates over several days in preparation for the 2027 elections,” Onanuga said.
During his working vacation, Tinubu held a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris and met with several business leaders.
Among those he met was Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
The President also met with Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings, on Monday.
Last week, Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the development of a Gateway deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
The Presidency said DP World, a global ports and logistics operator, plans to invest $7 billion in the proposed seaport and economic zone.
Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after completing his engagements in Lagos.
