Dr. Fabeke Douglas has warned against the unauthorized use of his photographs on social media platforms for political endorsements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fabeke, in a public disclaimer, said his attention had been drawn to the circulation of his pictures in connection with purported political endorsements which he did not authorize.
He described the development as an attempt at blackmail and political manipulation, stressing that he would personally announce any decision to endorse a political candidate or party.
“For the avoidance of doubt, if and when I decide to endorse any candidate or political party, I will do so publicly, personally, and through my official channels,” he said.
Fabeke stated that he had neither authorized nor supported any individual or group to use his image for political endorsement.
He warned members of the public, media organisations and political actors against sharing or promoting any post, flyer or video featuring his image for political endorsement without his express consent.
He said the practice was unacceptable and could lead to misrepresentation of his position on political matters.
Fabeke also announced plans to hold an interactive press briefing with media organisations in the city to address the issue and other matters of public concern.
According to him, the date and venue for the briefing would be announced shortly.
He urged the public and media organisations to disregard any political material bearing his image without his express authorization.
