Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George expressed satisfaction after his side played out a goalless draw against Ranchers Bees in Monday’s Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 6 fixture in Kano.
The result extended Rivers United’s unbeaten start to the 2026/27 season.
The Port Harcourt club now have three wins and two draws from five matches. They sit second on the NPFL table with 11 points and still have a game in hand.
Both teams created chances during the encounter. However, neither side managed to find the breakthrough as poor finishing proved costly.
Finidi admitted that Rivers United could have performed better, especially in the first half. Despite that, he welcomed the point gained away from home.
“It was a good game. At the end, we didn’t lose,” Finidi said after the match.
The former Super Eagles coach also noted that his players struggled with their passing in the opening half.
Ranchers Bees coach Usman Abdallah, however, took a different view of the result.
The former Kano Pillars manager claimed his side should have received two penalties during the game. He argued that the officiating decisions affected the final outcome.
According to Abdallah, Ranchers Bees deserved more from the contest based on their performance.
“It’s understandable because sometimes it’s beyond football, as we were denied two clear penalties,” Abdallah said.
Despite his disappointment, Abdallah praised his players and described the match as another important learning curve for the newly promoted side.
The draw lifted Ranchers Bees to 11th position on the league table.
Rivers United will travel to face Katsina United in their next league fixture, while Ranchers Bees will take on Kwara United in Ilorin.
