The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that nationwide collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will begin on Thursday, October 9.
The commission said the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise recorded a significant increase in participation, with more than 10.7 million new registrations recorded across the country.
INEC said arrangements had been concluded for the distribution of the cards across local government areas and designated electoral wards to ensure a smooth collection process.
Newly registered voters, as well as those who applied to transfer their voter registration or replace lost or damaged cards, have been advised to visit their designated collection centres with their registration slips.
The commission urged eligible voters to collect their cards promptly ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the importance of having their voter information properly processed before election day.
INEC also reiterated its commitment to improving access to voting and maintaining transparency throughout the electoral process across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The commission’s official voter portal currently allows registered voters to check the status of their PVC and locate their collection centre.
Nigeria’s 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and state assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
