The Center for Equal Rights and Justice Nigeria has appealed to the Rivers State Government to commence the second phase of the Bori Internal Roads Project.
The group, through its Convener, Comr. Barikui Holiness Nwikpa, appealed in a statement urging the state government to fulfil its promise to flag off the second phase of the road project.
Nwikpa commended the Rivers State Government for completing and commissioning the first phase of the Bori Internal Roads Project in 2025, describing the intervention as a significant infrastructure development for Bori and the wider Ogoni region.
According to him, the completion of the first phase has demonstrated the impact of government investment in the town, prompting calls for the immediate commencement of the next phase.
“Having witnessed the impact of the first phase, we respectfully appeal to His Excellency to proceed with the flag-off of the 2nd Phase as earlier promised,” Nwikpa said.

He said the completion of additional internal roads would improve transportation within Bori, enhance economic activities and ease the movement of residents.
Nwikpa added that the project would also improve access to homes, businesses, schools and other important locations across the town.
He described Bori as the traditional headquarters of Ogoni and an important urban centre in Rivers State, stressing that sustained investment in its infrastructure would contribute to the development of the community and the wider Ogoni region.
The group urged the state government to flag off the second phase without further delay, saying the project would provide residents with improved and more accessible roads across the town.
“We appreciate your administration for what has already been accomplished and look forward to the commencement of the next phase,” Nwikpa said.
He further thanked the state government for its efforts towards the development of Bori and Rivers State, while expressing hope that the second phase of the project would commence soon.
