Port Harcourt comedian and content creator Lyfewealth Charles Wobo, popularly known as Mr Lyfe or Orlu Papa, is once again in the spotlight after sharing his thoughts on the Super Eagles’ upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
Mr Lyfe recently spoke with Sports247 in Lagos while preparing to return to Port Harcourt, where he discussed Nigeria’s chances against Madagascar and the absence of Victor Osimhen from the squad.
The comedian said Nigeria still has enough quality to compete despite the absence of Victor Osimhen.
The striker, who Mr Lyfe described as his personal friend, was ruled out of Nigeria’s opening qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau after suffering a muscle injury. Taiwo Awoniyi was subsequently called up as his replacement.
Reports reveal that the comedian’s relationship with the footballer Victor Osimhen contributes to his increased visibility and popular exposure.
For Mr Lyfe, Osimhen’s absence should not be enough to derail Nigeria’s campaign. He believes the available players have an opportunity to step up and show the depth within the Super Eagles squad.
Known for his “Orlu Papa” character, Mr Lyfe has become a familiar face in Nigerian comedy, particularly through his frequent appearances alongside popular comedian and skit maker Sabinus. Reports identify the pair as childhood friends who grew up in Port Harcourt.
He was named the best player at the inaugural Sabi Cup, an entertainers’ football competition organised by Sabinus in Port Harcourt, receiving a ₦500,000 individual prize.
