The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to meeting its financial obligations to accredited healthcare providers and ensuring prompt payment for legitimate services rendered to its enrollees.
The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala, disclosed this during a virtual engagement with medical directors and billing officers of accredited private healthcare facilities in the state on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The meeting, monitored by the RIVCHPP Information/Public Relations Unit, provided an opportunity for the agency and healthcare providers to discuss challenges affecting service delivery and claims processing.
During the engagement, Agala announced the agency’s decision to introduce bundled billing for healthcare services, describing the initiative as part of measures to streamline the claims process, reduce delays and facilitate faster processing and payment of bills submitted by service providers.
She encouraged medical directors and billing officers to maintain regular communication with RIVCHPP officials, particularly when they encounter challenges that could affect the delivery of quality healthcare services to beneficiaries.

Agala assured accredited healthcare providers that RIVCHPP remained committed to fulfilling its financial obligations, while urging them to reciprocate by maintaining quality healthcare services for Rivers residents.
Some heads of accredited private healthcare facilities who participated in the engagement commended the agency’s collaborative approach, describing the meeting as an avenue for constructive dialogue and improved understanding between RIVCHPP and its service providers.
They pledged continued collaboration with the agency to address identified gaps, strengthen service delivery and improve access to quality healthcare for residents of the state.
The engagement also enabled RIVCHPP management to clarify programme policies and procedures, while receiving direct feedback from medical directors and billing officers on their experiences and challenges.
The agency said the introduction of bundled billing was aimed at simplifying the payment process and expediting claims settlement for healthcare services provided by accredited private healthcare facilities across Rivers State.
