The Rivers State Police Command has arrested an alleged leader of a one-chance robbery gang and 13 others in connection with terrorizing some parts of Port Harcourt and the surrounding localities.
Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, announced this while presenting the suspects at the press briefing in the Police Command, Port Harcourt, says Gist report.
Adepoju said the Police Investigation Unit tracked down the alleged mastermind after receiving complaints of one-chance robberies from some citizens in the state capital.
He stated that the arrests were made following up on intelligence gathered by the Violent Crime Response Unit.

The commissioner named some of the arrested suspects, including Nelson Idakiniselegha alias Mandela, Michael Matthew alias Pilot, Kelly Edison alias BTC, Daniel Obodo alias Mazi and Chisom Unegbu alias Favour.
According to him, Idakiniselegha was arrested on August 18, 2026, after police raided a suspected hideout located on Niger Street.
The suspect in custody confessed to being a member of a five-man robbery gang and gave police information on other syndicates.
Adepoju noted that Matthew, who is connected with the Iceland cult group was arrested on August 23 and gave information on how the gangs operated in Aba Road, East-West Road, Choba and NTA Road.
Police also recovered a tricycle with registration plate number RGM 823 XE and 16 mobile phones believed to be stolen from victims.
According to the police commissioner, Idakiniselegha went further to reveal that the robbers used to remove the sim cards of their victims and used them to withdraw money from their accounts.
Adepoju said the 14 suspects would be brought to justice as police investigation continues to flush out other members of the gang, trace the identities of victims and recover other stolen properties.
He urged residents to always be wary of such people and report any suspicious activities or persons to the security agencies.
