The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated Comrade Azuka Chiemeka on his re-election as Vice President, South South Zone of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor described Chiemeka’s re-election as a well-deserved recognition of his commitment, professionalism and contributions to sports journalism and sports development in Nigeria.
The Speaker, who is a sports enthusiast and member of SWAN, said the outcome of the election reflects the confidence members of the association have in Chiemeka’s leadership and capacity.
Guwor noted that Chiemeka has distinguished himself through years of dedicated service to sports journalism, adding that his wealth of experience would continue to contribute to the growth of the association and the advancement of sports journalism across the South-South zone.

He said, “Azuka Chiemeka’s re-election is a testament to his hard work, professionalism and unwavering commitment to the growth of sports journalism. It is also a recognition of the confidence his colleagues have in his capacity to provide purposeful leadership.”
The Speaker expressed optimism that Chiemeka would use his renewed mandate to strengthen the association, promote the welfare of sports writers and further advance sports journalism in the South-South region.
Guwor also congratulated other SWAN officials elected during the association’s recently concluded congress, wishing them a successful and impactful tenure.
Chiemeka, a Deputy General Manager in the News and Current Affairs Department of the Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri, and Head of its Sports Unit, was returned to office following the SWAN elections.
