The Rivers State Ministry of Education has announced the approved academic calendar for the 2026/2027 school year for nursery, primary, junior secondary and senior secondary schools across the state.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr Mina Ikuru, said the first term will begin on Monday, September 7, 2026, and end on Friday, December 11, 2026. A mid-term break is scheduled for October 23 to 26.

According to the calendar, the second term will run from January 4 to March 25, 2027, while the third term will commence on April 19 and end on July 16, 2027.
The academic session will comprise 39 instructional weeks. The Ministry has directed all schools to comply with the approved calendar and observe the stipulated dates.
The release of the calendar is expected to help parents, teachers and school administrators prepare adequately for the new academic session.
