Former France midfielder Paul Pogba has left AS Monaco after the Ligue 1 club terminated his contract following just one season.
The 2018 World Cup winner had been contracted to Monaco until June 2027, but the club said the agreement was ended early after objectives set by both parties were only “partially achieved”.
Pogba, 33, made just six appearances for Monaco last season, starting one match and coming on as a substitute in the other five.
“Representing this club and the principality was an incredible experience,” Pogba said, expressing gratitude for the opportunity despite his limited playing time.
Pogba joined Monaco last summer after serving an 18-month doping ban. His four-year suspension was reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, allowing him to return to professional football in March 2025.

The midfielder is now attracting interest from Major League Soccer, with DC United and Inter Miami among clubs previously linked with him.
However, a hamstring injury sustained during Monaco’s pre-season training camp in England could complicate his immediate plans.
Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro said Pogba’s return had been an ambitious project, adding that while the outcome was disappointing, it should not overshadow the significance of his return to professional football.
The club wished the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder well in the next stage of his career.
