The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara committed no offence by reconciling with his political alignment, maintaining that political missteps are not sins when acknowledged and corrected.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday following an inspection of ongoing road projects across the Federal Capital Territory, Wike described Fubara’s decision to rejoin his founding political movement as a positive development that will significantly bolster efforts to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The minister’s remarks follow Fubara’s recent public endorsement of the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition and his pledge to support Tinubu for a second term.
Clarifying that the concept of forgiveness does not apply to political alignments, Wike asserted that political dynamics revolve around recognising wrong trajectories and taking steps to realign.
He noted that he had anticipated Fubara’s eventual return, pointing out that returning to his original political network was the most logical step for the governor.
He added that the coalition received the governor and emphasised that their doors remain open to foster collective efforts toward advancing the state and mobilising voter support for the President’s 2027 presidential campaign.
The public reconciliation follows Fubara’s address at the groundbreaking event for the Rivien Medical Industry project in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The governor declared his integration into Wike’s political structure, urged his followers to back the coalition’s candidate platform, and signalled an end to state political disputes.
