The fight against oil theft and pipeline vandalism has remained a major priority for Nigeria, with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) playing a key role in protecting critical oil infrastructure in the Niger Delta.
Since its engagement by the Federal Government to support pipeline surveillance, Tantita has worked alongside other security agencies to safeguard oil assets, reduce attacks on pipelines and improve crude oil production.

Stakeholders and industry observers have credited the company’s operations with contributing to improved security around oil facilities and helping to reduce revenue losses caused by illegal bunkering and vandalism.
At a recent National Dialogue on Pipeline Security in Abuja, participants linked the decline in pipeline breaches and increased oil output to stronger surveillance systems. They stressed that pipeline protection requires coordinated efforts, intelligence sharing and a clear security structure.
The forum, organised by the Forum of Forensic Civil Society Groups in Nigeria and the Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency, warned that disrupting effective surveillance arrangements could create opportunities for criminal networks to return.
Participants, however, acknowledged the importance of involving host communities through structured engagement and capacity building while maintaining operational efficiency.
The House Committee on Host Communities also commended Tantita for its role in protecting oil facilities, reducing pipeline vandalism and supporting stability in oil-producing communities.
With the deployment of advanced surveillance technology, including unmanned systems, Tantita has continued to strengthen its monitoring capabilities.
Stakeholders maintain that protecting Nigeria’s oil infrastructure remains essential to sustaining national revenue, economic growth and development, while urging continued collaboration among government, communities and security partners.
