University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has collaborated with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation to successfully carry out its 2026 Senior Staff Promotion Exercise.
The hospital management referred to the exercise as being transparent, orderly, and based on merit.
Prof. Chituru Orluwene, Chief Medical Director of UPTH, has expressed his appreciation for the hospital management, its staff, and federal civil service officials for carrying out the two-day successful exercise that was carried out recently.
According to him, an accreditation and verification procedure has been put in place by the hospital to make sure only qualified officers participate in the exercise in accordance with Public Service Rules.

Orluwene was among the management team and officials who monitored the exercise and appreciated the visitors for the technical support that helped to make it successful.
In addition, he noted that the timely start of operations was an indicator of the efficiency, discipline, and accountability of the hospital administration.
The exercise was undertaken after the successful promotion exercise of junior staff conducted earlier this year.
However, more than 400 senior staff from various departments participated in the exercise.
The management reiterated its pledge to maintain a transparent promotion system based on merit.
