Honorable Charles Wobodo, the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, has started the exercise to verify the eligibility of students from the community who will benefit from the bursary scheme offered by the council for tertiary institution students in the area.
According to the report, the exercise, which started on Thursday, July 9, 2026, is being carried out by a bursary committee established by the council, and on the first day of the exercise, everything was going on well.
After watching how the exercise went on the first day, the Chairman of the Verification Committee and the Secretary of Ikwerre Local Government Council, Honorable Godknows Amadi, said that it was a very hitch-free and transparent exercise.
The bursary exercise is part of the campaign promise that Hon. Charles Wobodo promised to fulfill when he was contesting for his position as the chairman of the council.
He assured applicants of a free and open verification process, which will not be compromised by any form of political interference, and emphasized that all qualified candidates would be beneficiaries of the scholarship.

He added that the process is open, free from any form of political interference, and all qualified applicants will be paid according to the program. Some of the participants in the process congratulated the council for this laudable program.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Favour Ndawe thanked Hon. Wobodo for initiating the scholarship program, which she termed as a welcome one, since it would ease financial burdens on students and their parents. Miss Ndawe also appreciated the efforts put in by the verification committee during the verification process.
In the same vein, Samuel Onyebuchi David, a Computer Science student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni, thanked the council chairman for keeping the promise made to the students through the scholarship program.
He equally congratulated members of the verification committee for ensuring an orderly verification process.
The bursary program is one of the programs of the Ikwerre Local Government Administration aimed at ensuring accessibility of tertiary education by funding students of that region.
