According to Nigeria Info, the gunmen came from Bukuma Community in Degema Local Government Area.

As measures to prevent any further tension among the conflicting communities, the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr Chidi Lloyd, visited the affected community along with security agents.
Speaking to the journalists, Lloyd went ahead and revealed that preliminary investigations showed that two fishermen from the Bukuma Community were discovered dead in a river a week ago. He added that their fishing nets were then found in some people’s homes in Olua Community.
However, he discouraged them from making conclusions about the death based on the findings since the recovery of the fishing nets cannot be used to prove who killed the fishermen.
The council chairman stated that he had started consultations with his counterpart from the Degema Local Government Area to help reduce tension and promote reconciliation among the two communities.
Lloyd also advised the residents to remain in their homes regardless of the attack, assuring them that they were working hard to restore peace.
This latest intervention by the police and the local government shows that they are trying to combine criminal investigation with consultation to find a lasting solution to the problem.
