In a development related to the abduction of Justice E.G. Omukoro in June 2025, a Bayelsa State High Court has remanded a 39-year-old man, said to be among the suspects in the abduction case, in prison custody awaiting his trial to commence.
Dennis appeared in the court in Suit No. BYHC/YHC/CR/44/2026 facing four counts of conspiracy to commit felony, kidnapping, conspiracy to inflict grievous harm and attempted murder.
In his plea, he pleaded not guilty to all the charges read before him at his appearance before the court.

Upon his plea, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Peretimi Judith Peterside, who heads the prosecution team, appealed to the court to remand the defendant in custody while waiting for the determination of his case.
The trial judge, Justice Eradiri, acceded to the plea of the prosecutor and remanded the accused person in prison custody. The case was adjourned until 14 July for further hearing.
The judge issued this ruling after the prosecution team charged Dennis with the offences mentioned above on 20 June, 2025, says The Trumpet report.
The Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Bayelsa State Police Command headed by CSP Chris Nwaogbo, in cooperation with DSS operatives, had already made arrests of eight suspected abductors in connection with the kidnap case.
From investigations, Dennis was found to be among the suspected abductors who had already been branded as wanted criminals by security agencies.
Security sources revealed that operatives had placed the suspect under watch at his residence in Yenagoa for more than five months until they finally arrested him when he returned to the place.
From investigation, Dennis who claimed to be a postgraduate student was identified by Justice Omukoro in an identification parade.
