The by-election is expected to hold on Saturday, 20 June, 2026 in the Rivers South-East Senatorial District by the Rivers State Police Command.

Following the statements issued on Friday by the Police Spokesperson, Agabe Kaborlo, the directive will take effect from midnight on Friday, 19 June and end on Saturday, 20 June at 6:00 p.m.

The ban is expected to cover residents of Andoni, Tai, Khana, Gokana, Eleme, Oyigbo and Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Areas.

According to a statement released, the ban is an arrangement geared towards making the election process peaceful, orderly, free, fair and credible.
