The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reiterated its commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for transforming the region and unlocking the potential of its young population through skills development and entrepreneurship.
The Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, made this known on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at a Conference and Exhibition organised by TechNexus Limited in partnership with the NDDC, which held at the EUI Event Centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Speaking at the event, the NDDC Managing Director urged youths in the region to take charge of their future by harnessing opportunities provided by platforms such as the Port Harcourt Tech Expo to acquire relevant skills, embrace innovation, and build sustainable careers in the digital economy.
He described the expo as a strategic platform designed to bring together innovators, entrepreneurs, technology enthusiasts, and industry leaders to explore emerging technologies and develop pathways towards a more prosperous, competitive, and technologically advanced Niger Delta.

“The active participation of the NDDC in this initiative underscores our commitment to building a digitally empowered generation and advancing our vision of inclusive, technology-driven development across the region,” He stated.
According to Dr. Ogbuku, the Commission remains dedicated to collaborating with relevant organisations, institutions, and stakeholders to create opportunities that promote youth empowerment, digital literacy, innovation, and technological advancement.
Addressing participants on the theme of the expo, “Syntropy,” he reminded the audience that the future belongs to those who prepare for it.
“While the government has a responsibility to provide an enabling environment for growth and success, it is ultimately the responsibility of young people to seize available opportunities and position themselves for excellence,” Dr. Ogbuku added.
According to him, the NDDC, over time, has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing technology and innovation in the Niger Delta due to its importance in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable development.
He said the region has continued to witness the emergence of talented professionals, entrepreneurs, innovators, and startups making significant contributions across various technological fields.
Dr. Ogbuku added that through strategic partnerships, targeted interventions, and capacity-building programmes, the Commission has supported the nurturing of local talent and strengthened the innovation ecosystem, creating an environment where creativity and technological solutions can flourish.
