A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has convicted and sentenced twin brothers and five other persons to death by hanging for the kidnap and murder of Reverend Edwin Isaiah Dokubo-Harry.
Justice Boma Diepiri, in a judgment delivered on Monday, 25 May 2026, found Precious Jack Opara, Answer Dick, Osaki Fubara, Prince Mikado Philip, Tienabeso George, Seleipri Fubara, and Alaboeriya Fubara guilty on multiple counts of conspiracy, kidnapping, murder, and illegal possession of firearms.
The convicts were accused of luring the clergyman to a forest in the Abalama community, Asari-Toru Local Government Area, on December 6, 2013.
They allegedly tied his eyes and hands before killing him and dumping his body in a nearby creek.
Justice Diepiri held that the prosecution successfully proved its case against the seven men beyond a reasonable doubt.
He subsequently sentenced them to death by hanging, ordering that they be executed by hanging until pronounced dead.

The judge discharged and acquitted two other accused persons, Emmanuel Israel and Nephew Philemon, on all 25 counts.
At the pronouncement of the death sentence, emotional scenes erupted in the courtroom as some convicts and their family members broke down in tears.
Justice Diepiri directed the prosecution to release the recovered gun and other exhibits to the Nigeria Police Force for proper custody.
The case, which has lingered for over a decade, has brought some closure to the family of the slain reverend.
