Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state following the conduct of its presidential primary election, which produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner with 280,082 votes.
Fubara, who served as the State Collation Officer for the primary election, said the APC recorded a total of 297,068 registered members in Rivers State, while 280,082 delegates were accredited for the exercise.
He explained that all accredited delegates participated in the voting process, resulting in a unanimous outcome in favour of President Tinubu, while his sole opponent, Stanley Osifo, did not secure any vote.
The governor described the exercise as peaceful and well organised, attributing its smooth conduct to effective planning by the party leadership.
“I feel that this process has recorded one of the most organised outings of our great party in recent times. The only reason it came out this way has to do with good planning. In all, I want to say that I’m really impressed with the process,” he said.
Fubara, who also oversaw the collation of results from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State, said he carefully reviewed the figures before certifying the outcome.
“So, I can say here that having taken time to go through the figures diligently, I, Siminalayi Fubara, who is serving as the State Collation Officer, hereby certify that the information contained in my spreadsheet represents the true, correct and accurate record of the summary of results from the 23 LGAs of Rivers State,” he stated.
He added that the final report of the exercise would be forwarded to the APC national headquarters in Abuja for official declaration and documentation.
