The leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Senator Seriake Dickson has charged the party’s Screening Committee to discharge its duties with fairness, wisdom, and deep knowledge of local political dynamics, stressing that the committee must not become a tool for arbitrary disqualification of aspirants.
Senator Dickson who met with members of the committee comprising senior party leaders, professionals, and National Working Committee officials on Wednesday 20 May 2026 expressed satisfaction with the remarkable growth of the NDC and the rising confidence of Nigerians in the party as a credible alternative for democratic change.
He noted that the large turnout of aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for various elective positions across the country clearly demonstrates the growing acceptance of the NDC as a platform for national renewal.
While commending the committee for its crucial assignment, the leader urged its members to engage aspirants constructively, promote consensus where multiple aspirants are involved to avoid divisive primaries, and prepare detailed reports that would properly guide the party’s final decisions.
“Tickets will not be gifted arbitrarily,” he declared, reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to consultation, merit, competence, and the wishes of stakeholders and grassroots electorate.
The leader also extended appreciation to all aspirants for their trust in the party, describing them as valued stakeholders in the movement.
He equally thanked the screening committee members for their sacrifice and for bringing their vast experience to the task.
In a related development, the NDC chieftain received stakeholders from Rivers State and urged them to remain committed to the party’s ideals while strengthening its structures across the state in preparation for the coming elections.
He stressed that the future of the NDC rests on building a transparent, inclusive, and people-oriented political culture, expressing confidence that the party would continue to grow stronger with the dedication of its members nationwide.
