APC Disqualifies five Rivers Senate aspirants

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has published the list of senatorial aspirants who have been disqualified for its primaries in Rivers State.

According to Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, the list was released after screening by committees of the party.

The aspirants who failed the test include Oyukaye Flag Amachree (Rivers West), Wemike Danagogo, Jack-Rich Tein, Banigo Ipalibo and Tamunoabaabo (Rivers West).

Chief Barry Balera Mwara hails from Rivers South-East.

According to Morka, the screening process was carried out by the Party’s Screening Committees using the set procedures.

No particular reason was given for the disqualification of the concerned aspirants; they were only termed as “not cleared” following the screening exercise.

In an earlier report, TCPN had reported that the party had disqualified four House of Representatives aspirants in the state before the party’s primaries for the National Assembly in 2027.

Others who did not make the cut include Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara (rtd) (Port Harcourt Federal Constituency) and Hon. Anderson Allison Igbiki (Okrika/Ogu-Bolo Federal Constituency).

Others are Awaji Imombek Abirite (Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro Federal Constituency) and Hon. Boma Goodhead (Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru Federal Constituency).

While issuing the disqualification notice, Morka further explained that the screening process was done by designated committees of the party following the stipulated guidelines for determining candidates’ eligibility for participating in the primaries in the various constituencies.

In his statement on the exercise, Morka said the screening process was done by the party’s screening committees as per the party’s rules.

Morka also clarified membership issues that had been making rounds about the APC.

He stated that APC members do not need to prove that they have paid their party dues to vote in the ongoing primary elections.

According to him, the requirement applies only to the aspirants and sponsors when submitting Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms and during screening.
