Nigeria’s sprint athlete Tobi Amusan has consistently proven her dominance on Wednesday evening in Accra, Ghana, where she won her gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 24th African Senior Athletics Championships.
Unarguably, the 29-year-old world record holder did a job to get Nigeria’s first gold medal of the competition, and this makes her one of the track athletes in Africa.
Tobi Amusan won the event, which makes her the third woman to win three African Championships titles in the womens 100m hurdles. And she also did something no one else has done. winning both the African Championships and African Games gold medals three times each in the event.
Her win in Accra was special because she got back the title she lost two years ago in Cameroon where she was not feeling well and could not compete.
On the other hand, Nigeria’s Adaobi Tabugbo also did well in the event, securing the bronze medal, which made it a great day for Team Nigeria.
The reported statistics show that Adaobi Tabugbo did better than she did at the Championships, where she came fifth. Now she has her individual medal at the competition and it shows she is getting better at hurdling in Africa.
Notwithstanding, the Nigerian sprint Queen Tobi Amusan is not done yet, as she will go to China for the Wanda Diamond League in Shanghai/Keqiao, on Saturday.
While she just got her title back it’s very clear that she wants to get the Diamond League crown she lost in 2024. She did not defend her title then so she is going to try.
