Councillor Gifts Books, Bags to Rivers Students

Overwhelmed students of Comprehensive Secondary School, Ogbogu and the Universal Basic Education session of the Government Secondary School Akabuka, are full of praises for the councillor representing Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni ONELGA Ward 8 in Rivers State, Hon. Bridget Oreke.

Their excitement was following the distribution of school materials such as bags, notebooks and mathematical sets, by the councilor.

A student in J.S.S 2, who gave her name as Kindness Okechukwu expressed gratitude, describing the gesture as a relief.

Her words: “I want to thank mummy Bridget Oreke for this gift, God bless her. Yes, I need all of them. I didn’t have maths set. I wanted it but my mummy said money to buy it.

“I am very happy that I have it, I have new books but I will keep it for next term. God bless her and her children.”

The gesture by the ward 8 councilor was aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents by donating educational materials to students in her constituency. It was also to help families cope with the rising cost of education materials.

Oreke charged the students to begin the session on a positive note, stay focused, disciplined, and determined to succeed in their studies.

This reflects Oreke’s continued commitment to education and the welfare of families in ONELGA Ward 8, as she continues to prioritize grassroots development and student empowerment.

Stressing the importance of education as a foundation for a better future, she encouraged the students to take their learning seriously.

Her words: “This initiative is not only about providing school materials but also about promoting academic excellence among young people in the ward.

“Many parents face financial challenges during school resumption, so this support was designed to ease some of that pressure.

“Each notebook distributed to the students carries motivational messages meant to inspire them throughout the session. On the front page, we also have quotes such as “Success in academics requires focus, dedication and consistency. Let this notebook be a true record of your efforts and achievements.”

“The back page also carries another encouraging message “Great minds are built through learning and practice. Let every page in this notebook bring you closer to your dreams.”
