2027 Presidency: Wike Mocks Atiku “Is Presidency Now a Prescribed Drug for You?”

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched another scathing attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning his relentless bid to become Nigeria’s president.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja Wike ridiculed Atiku’s repeated attempts at the presidency, asking whether drugs were prescribed for the presidency, to the former vice president.

His remark came as a response to Atiku’s criticism of the recently concluded local government elections in Rivers State.

Atiku had condemned the polls, alleging that a cabal was working to undermine democracy in the state. But Wike, a former Rivers governor, dismissed Atiku’s stance as hypocritical, recalling how the ex–vice president once supported a government that defied a court order to conduct local government elections.

“The Federal High Court stopped the last LG election, but the government went ahead. Atiku praised that same government,” Wike said.

“A man who has occupied the number two position should at least respect the rule of law.”

The minister also revisited Atiku’s years under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, accusing him of insubordination and poor grasp of governance.

“He didn’t even know that Obasanjo signed emergency rule in 2004. If he was loyal and attentive, he would have understood the president’s powers,” Wike stated.

Taking his criticism further, Wike described Atiku’s political career as opportunistic and inconsistent, citing his constant switches between parties. “From PDP to AC, back to PDP, then APC, back again, and now ADC. Look at his history,” Wike said.

“Did they prescribe drugs for presidency for him?”

Wike’s latest broadside underscores the deepening rift between the two political heavyweights ahead of the 2027 general elections, with tensions in the opposition camp showing no signs of easing.
