The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has presented 5,000 copies of the reintroduced national anthem to the National Sports Commission. The gesture aims to deepen national consciousness and promote the use of key national symbols.
The NOA Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, emphasized the importance of sports in fostering national unity and patriotism.
The NOA DG, represented by the Director of Special Duties and State Operations, Mr. David Akoji, stated that the agency had received complaints about athletes struggling to accurately sing the national anthem, prompting the donation.
The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, appreciated the gesture, noting that it would help strengthen national pride and ensure proper rendition of the anthem, particularly as the Nigerian Falcons prepare to face Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.

The NOA also presented a plaque containing information on the National Values Charter, which serves as a vital social contract between the government and citizens. The charter encompasses the Nigerian Promise, the Citizens’ Code, and key institutional policies designed to guide the behavior and responsibilities of all Nigerians.
The NOA DG highlighted sports as a powerful and unifying force capable of transcending barriers of tribe, religion, and political affiliation. The Chairman of the National Sports Commission also emphasized the significant role of sports in driving the country’s economy, creating employment opportunities, and stimulating economic growth.
The materials, including the national anthem and flag, will be distributed at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final to help promote national pride and patriotism.
