“We Will Keep Building On What We’ve Already Done” – Rasheedat

Nigeria’s female national team, the Super Falcons, led by captain Rasheedat Ajibade, is enjoying a triumphant beginning to this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2024) in Morocco and has vowed to continue building on this success.

According to Sports247, the Falcons faced challenges in finding their rhythm and cohesion on Sunday in Casablanca; however, Ajibade and her teammates secured a 3-0 victory in their opening group match against Tunisia.

While celebrating the joy of their win, Ajibade recognized that this is merely the first step towards claiming a historic 10th WAFCON title, which she acknowledged will not be easily attained.

The former Atletico Femenino player stated, “We are eager to accomplish Mission X, but our primary focus is to build upon our previous achievements.

“We are skilled athletes, and we aim to give our utmost in this tournament. With all due respect to my fellow competitors, we aspire to win, but we understand that it will not be a simple task.”

The Falcons will now shift their attention to their next group match against Botswana on Thursday, for which Ajibade has promised that the Nigerian players will enhance their efforts to perform better than they did against Tunisia.

She remarked, “This will not be an easy match, as it is a significant tournament with many improved teams. Additionally, there are numerous talented players from other nations.

“Therefore, we are not under the illusion that it will be a smooth journey. The most crucial aspect for us as a team is to show up and demonstrate our best capabilities.”

‘The Lady With Blue Hair’ concluded by acknowledging that the Falcons did not perform at their peak during Sunday’s match, attributing it to the fact that it was their first game in this year’s competition, and she expressed confidence that they will improve with each subsequent match in the ongoing championship in The Atlas Nation.
