Favour Ofili has officially switched her sporting nationality from Nigeria to Turkey, following repeated administrative fracas by Nigerian athletics bodies that cost her two Olympic appearances.
Ofili missed the Tokyo Olympics 200m in 2021 after the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the National Anti-Doping Committee (NADC) failed to get her tested in time, a situation that also affected 13 other Nigerian athletes.

The Sprint’s star move was reportedly orchestrated by years of neglect and frustration over Nigeria’s sports administration.
To compound the situation, the same AFN leadership responsible for the fracas was re-elected in June 2025, further demoralising the American-based sprinter.
With Ofili’s switch to Turkey, Team Nigeria’s sprint hope, ahead of Paris 2024, could suffer a big loss.
