NPFL Warns Clubs: No Floodlights, No Home Matches Next Season

NPFL

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has issued a strict warning to clubs ahead of the 2025/26 season, stating that without functional floodlights and backup power, there will be no home matches.

In a memo addressed to all clubs, NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi emphasised that stadiums without standard LED floodlights and a reliable backup power supply will not be approved for use next season.

Owumi highlighted the critical importance of proper infrastructure, noting that these requirements are essential for ensuring professional matchday operations, particularly for games played in the evening or under unpredictable power conditions.

The memo, also circulated to the NPFL Board, management, and staff, serves as a reminder that all clubs must have fully functional stadium facilities in place ahead of the routine stadium inspection.

Clubs have been urged to make all necessary upgrades and ensure full compliance, as no exceptions will be made once the 2025/26 season kicks off.
