Group Refutes Claims of Endorsing President Tinubu Come 2027

A socio-political advocacy group in Rivers State, the Oyigbo Advocacy For Good Governance(OYAFORG), has dissociated itself from the recent purported endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office, come the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

In a statement by its President, Dr Abednego Nwafor, the Secretary, Deacon Desmond Akara, and the Director of Media Publicity, Barr. Chidinma Saturday, respectively. The group states, “Let’s be informed that Oyigbo Advocacy For Good Governance is a socio-political organization of Oyigbo sons and daughters. Who is desirous of unifying the various communities of Oyigbo Local Government Area, accelerating growth and development in the area. As well as projecting and defending the interests of our people in every aspect of the economy”.

“We read through the media recently that Oyigbo people had endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office. The purported endorsement was said to have taken place at a meeting of the All Progressives Congress(APC) leaders in the area”.

“We wish to abundantly clear and without any iota of doubt that the people of Oyigbo, including, members of this group, completely dissociate themselves from the unjust and insensitive endorsement of either President Bola Tinubu, and or anybody for any elective positions in the country ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country,” the group declared.

It further admonished the general public to disregard such mischievous and misleading information made by some persons, who are power-intoxicated, whose focus is far from helping to build better development bridges for the well-being of Oyigbo people; rather, they are ready to sell off their birthright.

Meanwhile, the group has demanded that it is Oyigbo people’s turn for senatorial shot at the ‘Red Chambers’ of the National Assembly, come 2027 general elections in the state, immediately after the turn of their Tai neighbours.

It stressed that ” nobody can dictate to Oyigbo people on the occupation of the senatorial seat for Rivers South-East Senatorial District of Rivers State. The group described the marginalization of such an opportunity as uncalled for and unacceptable.

On the ongoing reconciliation process in Rivers State, which is poised to create room for the lifting of the emergency rule in the state, the group, urged all the state actors in the melee, to think first about the people’s interests that is paramount, before their own, by laying down their arms, and embrace peace for posterity.

It also enjoined President Bola Tinubu to use his good offices to do the needful by re-instating Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his team for democracy to continue to thrive in the state.

The organization used the opportunity to thank lMr President for his quick intervention,as he saved the situation in the turbulence political waters of discords, planted by some self- centred elements in the political corridors of power, just for their selfish easons.
