The three Bills passed by the House as announced by Speaker, Mr Martin Amaewhule are; a bill to grant the Rivers State House of Assembly the powers, privilege and immunity to carry out its legislative duties, a bill to repeal the state’s Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC law and a bill to repeal the Rivers state local government law.

Deputy Leader, Mrs Lynda Somiari-Stewart closed debate on the three committee reports for passage having scaled the third reading.

On Thursday, the plenary held by the House resolved to write to the Department of State Service DSS to investigate the allegation of age falsification leveled against the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Amadi following a statement by the Leader, Mr. Major Jack who had laid a document on the table alleging that Justice Amadi falsified his age in the civil service.

Speaker, Mr. Amaewhule had said the House, though empowered to conduct investigation by the provisions of Section 128 of the Constitution cannot carry out the function as the Governor had barred all heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies from appearing before the House or assist in investigations therefore calling on the DSS to institute an investigation on the alleged age falsification by the Chief Judge of Rivers State.

Our correspondent reports that the House adjourned plenary indefinitely after today’s sitting.
