NLC declares Nationwide Rally on Tuesday, rejects 50 percent telecom tariff increment

The Nigeria Labour Congress has directed All Affiliate Councils to embark on a nationwide mass Rally on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

A communique issued by the President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero says the Union rejected the 50 percent increase in telecommunication tariff by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Comrade Ajaero said after the meeting of the National Administrative Council of NLC on Wednesday, the Union directed its affiliates and State Councils to embark on a nationwide mass rally on Tuesday, next week.

Comrade Ajaero said Nigerians are still battling a minimum wage of ₦70,000; hikes in the price of petrol, high cost of food, hikes in electricity tariff, and rising inflation causing economic hardship..

NLC calls on all Nigerian workers, the informal sector, and the general public to stand in solidarity against unfair policy.

Comrade Ajaero maintained that the Nigeria Labour Congress remained committed to protecting the interests of Nigerian workers.
