December 28, 2024, was very memorable, following a remarkable funfare put together by the wives of Obuama Community Chiefs, traditionally called ALAPUEREME OBUAMA.

The gathering which took place at the classical King Amachree Questhouse, Obuama in Degema LGA of Rivers State was designed to put smiles on the faces of all attendees especially the less privileged who went home with some fantastic give away items.

The President of ALAPUEREME OBUAMA group, Hajia Rahmat Dokubo Asari told our correspondent that it has been the usual practice of the group to positively touch the lives of the needy every year by giving them valuable food and household items to ease the economic hardship on people.

“But this year, we decided to organize this funfare gathering so they could be entertained, share pleasantries with everyone, and still go home with palliatives.

“The beneficiaries of this party were very happy as I could see obvious smiles on their faces and indeed they really had fun which is our joy too to make them happy.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the sponsors of this event, the Edi-Abali of Kalabari Kingdom, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari and High Chief Sobomabo Jackrich whose immense support helped to make this gathering a huge success.

“I also want to thank other top dignitaries who graced this occasion with their presence such as the Chairman, Obuama Council of Chiefs, Alabo Rowland Obomate Tom Big Harry; the King of Okpor, HRM Diamond Tobin West; the National Chairman of the South-South, Elders and Opinion Leaders, High Chief (Dr) Omubo Atuboinoma Harry (JP), the Imam of Obuama Central Mosque, Alhaji Hassan Abdullahi among others,” she said.

Hajia Rahmat Dokubo Asari further used the event to wish everyone a successful festive season as she prayed the Almighty Allah to bless and protect everyone now and in the years to come.

Our correspondent reports that the highlights of the event include performances by the cultural group of Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari; Obuama mixed choirs and schools drama; Santa Clause and Christmas carol , among others.
