“The Service wishes to inform the public that OKUNEYE IDRIS is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action

The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders.”

How Bobrisky was Arrested

Details have emerged regarding the arrest of popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border on Monday.

Eyewitnesses informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Bobrisky arrived at the border’s departure area around 1:30 a.m. in a black Mercedes-Benz SUV.

Initial efforts to stop the vehicle by Port Health officials were ignored until the vehicle reached the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint.

According to sources, Bobrisky handed his passport to his driver for processing at the immigration post. It was at this point that a surveillance officer, identified as Yusuf, recognized him.

Yusuf then alerted the senior officer on duty and discreetly contacted the Controller of Immigration at the Seme Command, Mr. Muhammad Adamu.

Bobrisky was subsequently asked to proceed to the surveillance unit for further passport verification and capturing. However, he was escorted to the controller’s office for questioning.

Another source revealed that Bobrisky’s lawyer later arrived at the border to inquire about the reasons for his detention.

Bobrisky remained in the controller’s office until around 4:00 p.m. when he was transferred to the Lagos State Command of the NIS for further investigation.

The NIS had earlier confirmed Bobrisky’s arrest at the Seme Border. In a statement from the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kenneth Udo, Bobrisky was described as a “person of interest” concerning ongoing public matters.

Udo added that Bobrisky was intercepted while attempting to leave the country and is currently undergoing interrogation. He will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
