Rivers Police arrest landlord for macheting married female tenant, husband

The Azikiwe Police Division, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State has arrested fleeing landlord identified as Alabo, who alledgely macheted a female tenant and her husband, on 15 May, 2022, at Ekwulobia street Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

Alabo was said to have been on the run after giving the female tenant and her husband several matchete cut for the woman’s refusal of his love advances.

The Police arrested the fleeing suspect on Sunday 12 November, 2023, after several months of trailing him.

In an interview with our Correspondent, the female tenant Mrs Comfort Nwagadi confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

Mrs Nwagadi narrated that the suspect, Alabo had attacked her immediately after she entered the compound that fateful day, with a cutlass which he used to inflict injury on her head, and fingers and also gave her husband several cuts who came to her rescue, before fleeing the compound that very night.

According to her, Alabo has been targeting to harm her, ever since she turned down his alleged love advance.

She however demands for justice to be done on the matter.

Our Correspondent who visited the couple when they were hospitalized last year, reports that the woman sustained machete cuts on the head, hands, and fingers, while the husband sustained an injury on the head and hand.

According to our Correspondent two fingers of Mrs Comfort Nwagadi and that of her husband are no longer functioning as a result of the machete cut.

The case file was then transferred from Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department(SCIID) on the directive of the Commissioner of Police.

The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command SP Grace Iringe Koko is yet to respond to an inquiry made by our Correspondent on the incident.
