The Ijaw Youth Council, Abuja Chapter has gotten a new leadership to be chaired by Comrade Deinma Emmanuel.

The new leadership which was elected earlier this month, took over the mantle of leadership on November 14 shortly after the 4th leadership led by Comrade Adam Marbo formally handed over.

In his inaugural speech, Deinma promised to work for the Ijaw nation as he also pledged to run an all inclusive government that will give all Ijaw youths, a sense of belonging.

While charging the new leadership to sacrifice a lot for the growth and development of the Ijaw nation, the immediate past Chairman, IYC. Abuja Chapter, Marbo promised to support the incumbent leadership.

Marbo said: “It is good to serve the Ijaw nation. Serving Ijaw people is the best experience I have achieved in my entire life. I used my tenure to contribute a lot to the unity and development of my people.

“I also made sure my tenure does not look like previous tenures where handing over to successors has always been a battle. Before my tenure, such handing over used to meet with a lot of crisis and violence. But under my leadership, I changed the status quo and created a road map for a smooth handover without exceeding the time met for it.

“I promise my people after I was elected as chairman that I am going to conduct an election before the expiration of my tenure and today, I can tell you categorically that the election was conducted on the 1st of November and handed over to the next executive took place on the 14th of November in line with the same date we took over leadership.

“We have tried our best but I believe the best is still yet to come. I want to use this medium to also encourage the 5th leadership under Comrade Deinma Emmanuel to have it at the back of his mind that to serve Ijaw people is a sacrifice. It is not easy but it is the best experience in life because it prepares you for the future.

“I charge the new leadership to do their best for the Ijaw people and let there be unity among Ijaw people. I believe that the 5th leadership under Deinma is going to do well because we have given them our support as we expect more growth and development for Ijaw nation.”
