Court remands cult group executioner in Port Harcourt prison for murder

A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded one Soniabari Sagha in Port Harcourt Correctional Center, on six count charges of conspiracy, cultism, kidnapping and murder.

The suspect and others being detained at the Correctional facility including one Confidence Kirinee, were said to have conspired amongst themselves to kidnap and killed late Muenalo Sunday, on 5 March, 2019, in Khana local government area of Rivers state.

In count two of the charge, Sagha who is reported to be the Executioner of his cult group, is alleged to have shot Muenalo Sunday to death with an AK-47, after collecting the sum of ten thousand (10,000) naira ransom, an offence punishable under section of Secret cult and similar activities Prohibition law of Rivers State number eight of 2018 as amended.

The Presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate, R.N Ibenibo declined jurisdiction on the matter and directed that the case file be transmitted to Department of Public Prosecution for possible advice.

The court adjourned the case to 4 April, 2022, and remanded the suspect in prison custody.
