PDP Crisis: Court reinstates Secondus as National chairman

Amind the leadership crisis rocking the People’s Democratic Party, a court sitting in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital on Thurday, ordered the return of Pince Uche Secondus as the party’s national chairman.

Secondus had been ordered to vacate the chairmanship position by a High Court in Rivers State, which barred hi, from excersing the powers of the position.

The ruling by Justice Nusirat. I. Umar, a vacation Judge of the Kebbi State High Court, recalled Secondus to his position, anulling his suspension order.

The order permitted Secondus to continue exercising all the constitutional powers of the office of Chairman as enshrined in both 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended and the Peoples Democratic Party’s constitution.

However, the PDP have affirmed the Deputy National Chairman (South), Yemi Akinwonmi, as the acting national chairman of the party, following an intra-party tussle for leadership.

The party spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, disclosed this to newsmen after the National Working Committee closed door meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
