Defection rumours: ‘Akwa Ibom is not like any other state’ – Gov. Udom

Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel has denied rumours making the rounds on his intentions to defect to the opposition party, All Progressive Congress (APC).

He disclosed this on Tuesday during the commissioning of roads in Oron area of the state.

In his statement, He said: “Do you know why they are writing that I will join them? They are looking for good people to repair their party.

“They want someone with projects as they don’t have any, they want someone that commissions projects. They have never commissioned any because they don’t have any. Tell them I am not coming.”

He reassured that the state is a full-fledged PDP state with people of integrity, expressing that it is not like any other state.

“Akwa Ibom is PDP! PDP is Akwa Ibom! When you see them, tell them that Akwa Ibom is not like any other state, we are a people of integrity and cannot be distracted from our responsibilities by false speculations”

He stressed that those speculating his defection were thrilled by the level of development his administration has brought and were only wishing that he could defect to the opposition party to do the same there.

He warned against peddling false stories while assuring that his administration is committed in delivering promises made to the people.

This is coming days after his colleague, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River state dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the rival party, All Progressive Congress (APC)
